DIGNITY CURRICULUM · LESSON 04
Repair and Belonging
Turn reflection into a constructive next step
The idea
Repair begins with taking responsibility for a specific action and listening to its impact. It does not require anyone to accept an apology, restore contact, or give up a boundary.
Try it together
- Use a fictional situation: a group member’s idea was dismissed before they finished speaking. Describe the action without labelling the person.
- Practice: “I interrupted you. I would like to hear the rest, if you want to share.” Ask what would make the next conversation fairer.
- Choose one visible change: a turn taking routine, a written invitation for ideas, or a check that everyone understood the decision.
Reflect
What changed in our actions, beyond the words of the apology?
Carry it forward
We will make room for a voice that was missed and follow through on one agreed change.
Facilitator note
Use fictional or everyday examples. Do not require a personal disclosure or ask learners to relive a difficult experience. Offer a pause and an alternative activity. Follow your organization’s applicable safeguarding procedures when support is needed.
